auto insurance

I was wondering if you need any qualifications in order to sell auto insurance (like in Allstate, SafeAuto etc etc). I just noticed that my agent had some sort of diplome and that sparked my curiosity lol.

Agents need to be licensed in the state in which they sell insurance. The have to pass a test to gain a license. Beyond that, insurance agents come from all walks of life; some with advanced educations and some not. Also, many agents take insurance industry courses to get certified as a CLU (certified life underwriter), CPCU (certified property and casualty underwriter) just to name a couple. You could be looking at his state license, a copy of some degree or the professional certifications he earned.

I know Allstate, State Farm, and Farmers all require a college degree to become agents. I don’t know if there are any exceptions to that requirement. Check out their respective web sites about becoming agents.
